Obstacles and Challenges
City utilities may be required for the
cottages: Currently Hope's project plan
uses a septic system and well for the facilities. If
county utilities are required, this will add an additional
$360,000 to the project and only allow 1 cottage to be
constructed with the presently allocated funds.
ANSWERED PRAYER
Fire Protection: The
current plan is to obtain permission to bury a 30,000 gallon
tank to hold water for fire protection of the cottages.
If allowed, this will only cost about $15,000.
ANSWERED PRAYER
- Price Increases: Any fuel-based products
have the potential to increase in price in the future.
- Obtaining and coordinating volunteer resources: This
is a very complex task to ensure we can obtain and schedule
the resources during the entire span of the project.
These resources are critical to the success of the project
and the ability to buy material for more cottages with the
allocated funds instead of spending the money on labor.
- Furnishings: Identifying the furnishings
for the cottages that are functional and "low cost" is a
challenge.
- Kitchens: We need to obtain the approval of
the county to install "warming" kitchens in each of the
cottages. If a commercial kitchen is required in each
cottage, the prices will increase by approximately $20,000
per kitchen (to include fire extinguishment systems,
commercial appliances, and yearly maintenance).
